Plant hire guide

Plant Hire Costs Cork

What affects plant hire pricing, from machine type and duration to delivery and operator needs.

Plant hire doesn't have a single price because every job is different. But the factors that drive the cost are the same every time, and once you understand them you can get a confirmed quote quickly — without surprises. Here's what genuinely affects what you pay for digger, dumper and excavator hire in Cork.

Machine type and size

Kieran’s verified digger fleet runs from 1 to 5 tonnes. Rates plus VAT are: 1 tonne €100/day, €300/week or €200/weekend; 1.6 tonne €130/day, €350/week or €230/weekend; 3 tonne €150/day, €400/week or €250/weekend; and 5 tonne €180/day, €450/week or €300/weekend. Choose by access and job size, not price alone.

Hire duration

Daily rates suit short jobs, weekend rates cover a typical weekend project, and the published weekly rates are best value for longer work. Dumpers are €80/day, €200/week or €150/weekend plus VAT. Delivery and collection are additional.

Delivery

Delivery is charged on distance from our Midleton base. Most Cork City and East Cork deliveries are quick and affordable; further afield in West Cork or North Cork adds travel time and cost. Same-day and next-day delivery is usually possible when machines are available. For multi-day hires, the machine stays on your site overnight.

Operator requirements

Self-drive hire is the machine only — you operate it. Operated hire adds the operator's cost, but often saves money overall through faster, safer work, especially on jobs with unknown services, deep excavation or tight deadlines. On commercial sites, operated hire is often the expected standard. If you're unsure which applies, describe the job and we'll give you a straight recommendation.

Site and access considerations

Difficult access, soft ground or congested sites can affect the machine choice and therefore the cost. If we need to bring a tracked machine where a wheeled one won't work, or a micro digger because a mini won't fit, that's part of matching the right machine to your site — not an upsell.

How to get a real quote

Send the job details — what you're doing, the access width, the dig depth, how long you need the machine, and where in Cork the site is. We'll confirm the right machine, the delivery cost and a clear hire rate. No guesswork, no pressure, and no invented prices on a website that don't match your actual job.
