Preparing Your Site For Plant Hire
A quick pre-delivery checklist so your hired machine can get on site, work efficiently and leave without a hitch.
A little preparation before the machine arrives saves hire time, avoids failed deliveries and keeps the job smooth. Run through this before your delivery slot.
Confirm access
Measure the narrowest point the machine has to pass — gateway, side passage, doorway — and tell us before delivery, not on the day. A machine that can't get on site is a wasted trip for everyone. Clear the route of bins, cars, low branches and anything else that narrows it.
Check the ground
Think about how the machine gets from the delivery point to the work area. Soft, wet or sloped ground may need tracked machines or temporary protection over lawns and driveways. Flag any surfaces you're worried about so we can advise on rubber tracks or boards.
Plan for spoil and materials
Know where spoil goes and where materials will sit. A digger with nowhere to put the dirt, or a dumper with no clear run, loses time fast. If a skip or grab lorry is part of the plan, line up the timing.
Services, parking and people
Locate underground services in the dig area beforehand. Make sure there's a safe place for the delivery lorry to unload and for the machine to be parked overnight if it's a multi-day hire. Keep children and pets well clear of the working and delivery zones. Get these sorted and the machine earns its keep from the first hour.
